This section of the route takes you over the hills of South Wales, above the mining valleys with their terraced houses, along the coast and through the rolling countryside of Carmarthenshire.
You start on the medieval pilgrimage route to the famous shrine of Penrhys. A magnificent ridge route takes you above the Rhondda Valleys to Margam, with its abbey church and picturesque ruins. Follow the coast path to Neath Abbey then on to Carmarthen. Return to the coast path to Tenby, where you can take the boat to Caldey Island.
