From Capel Mair, walk along the track to the metalled road. Cross the road and take the track opposite, leading towards Cwm Maelog, and look out for a small building below the path. This is the building known locally as ‘The Monks’ Bath’. Older documents call it Ffynnon Gyffyr, the Medicinal Well. It could be the well dedicated to St Mary that was near the chapel up on the ridge, but it is probably too far away.
The actual structure looks like another bit of Mansel Talbot reconstruction, probably modelled on the well chapel at Penrhys, but at least part of it is actually medieval. Medieval roofing tiles were found during excavation and conservation.
