The old bridge in Pontypridd

Grid reference: around ST 072 903

Pontypridd grew up around the old bridge. William Edwards designed this groundbreaking structure to span the Taff, earlier bridges having collapsed. Then the canal came through, taking iron and coal from the Valleys to Caridiff's docks.

Pontypridd has shops, pubs and places to stay. Explore the museum by the old bridge and the town centre with its traditional market.
