The Conwy valley looking south to the mountains

Maenan to Gwytherin

The route from Maenan to Gwytherin needs more work, as many of the footpaths across farmland are blocked.

At the moment the best route is probably to continue up river to Llanrwst then along lanes and footpaths to cross the B5113 at Nant y Fedwen. At SH 84612 62205, take the track to the left down to cross the Afon Derfyn and up the other side. (The track is marked as a Road Used as Public Path.)

At SH 85644 62262 you rejoin the public road. You are now on the North Wales Pilgrims' Way, which you follow in reverse to Gwytherin.

Continue along the metalled road past Graig bach. At SH 86206 62147 the road bears left. Take the rough track through the gate ahead of you and up the left boundary of the field. At the top, bear round to the right to cross the fence then back to the left, over the stile and straight on along a stony track. When you reach Pen-y-graig (deserted in 2002 but used as sheds) go left through the gate and down a little stony track then straight on across the field. The footpath runs down the left of a pretty wooded valley to Gwytherin.
